Missing The Boat

The Internet is the ultimate avenue for advertising and marketing – and I don’t mean banner ads. I can’t tell you how many businesses (both large and small) I’ve researched which are squandering this incredible opportunity by either not having an Internet presence or just having a couple of pages (or worse yet - flash oriented pages) sitting online doing nothing.

One business I looked at recently sells books. Their website has about 75 words about each book and little else. This leaves many questions in the mind of the buyer. Go to Amazon today and you’ll find most books have a few pages available to read so you can browse online. This is an excellent way of selling a book.

Books are just the beginning. The Internet gives you an enormous opportunity to have a huge advertising/marketing machine for your business that is available to any customer anywhere in the world – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. No matter what you’re selling, you are doing yourself a favor by having lots of information online about that product or service. This includes pictures, video, brochures, catalogues, menus, schedules, contact information, profiles, special events, discounts, coupons, etc.

If you don’t have a word-rich website written by a marketing professional, loaded with links and keywords, you’re missing the boat.

Write or call me for a free consultation. Getting your marketing in order is less expensive that you might think.

Mad With Ads

Advertising works - but sometimes even a good thing can be overdone! The news today is that an award-winning television producer, David E. Kelley, is considering giving up producing programming for network television and focusing on pay cable. Read the story: David E. Kelley decries commercials.

Why? Ads. Commercials have grown to nearly 20 minutes of every 60 minute program - not enough time, Kelley says, to create a good story with fully developed characters.

With the explosion in home theaters, on-demand movies, DVD's delivered to your door and old television programs on DVD, 'free' television is in trouble. As a result, your business' advertising budget may be in trouble, too. If you've been delaying updating your marketing to take advantage of today's 'customizable' advertising strategies, you may be wasting money. Reaching the low end of the disposable income market on 'free' TV, radio and newspapers, while the top target market is no longer part of their audience is expensive.

Today's opportunities for hitting your target market are far better than you'd imagine. You can customize your presentation so it is narrowly targeted and served up to people searching for your product or service without the expense of being lost in the crowd of traditional radio, tv and newspaper ads. Call or write me to find out how.

The Greatest Revolution

Perhaps the greatest revolution to ever happen to mankind is happening to us every day as millions join together on the new frontier of the Internet. It is a peaceful revolution that revolves around communication and technology. I'm excited to be a part of this revolution and hope that what I contribute to it stands the test of time to live on for my descendants and others.

What is this revolution? The ability of individuals to share their ideas with others with no limits.

Thanks to the Internet, we now have the opportunity to share words, ideas and media like pictures and video with millions without the bottlenecks of publishing and distribution channels. This means that the budding filmmaker can now put his art on the Internet for download or streaming and the hopeful novelist can distribute his work without rejection of publishing houses. Everything involves marketing - even art - so escpecially for small businesses, reaching out to your customers is even more affordable than ever. You can now describe your offerings in more detail and at less cost.

This blog will provide insight on this revolution in communications and will focus on the fields of business, education, art, advertising, marketing and media production. I hope to provide exciting ideas that you can use to help yourself reach out to others. Whether you are an individual or a business, I invite you to share you thoughts with me and readers of these postings.

Welcome aboard and let's set course for the most exciting future ever!

Best regards,
