Missing The Boat
One business I looked at recently sells books. Their website has about 75 words about each book and little else. I don’t know about you, but when I buy a book, I like to read several pages and determine if I like the style in which it is written first before I plunk down a lot of money on something that may turn out to be a clunker. Outside of the cover, this business doesn’t give you much information about their books on which to make a decision. They do things the ‘old fashioned way’. They prefer to depend upon the initial publicity to a very small audience and upon the hope that book sellers might display their book in some place besides the clearance table or on a lower shelf in the back. This is a strategy that is self-defeating.
Go to Amazon today and you’ll find most books have a few pages available to read so you can browse online. This is an excellent way of selling a book.
Books are just the beginning. The Internet gives you an enormous opportunity to have a huge advertising/marketing machine for your business that is available to any customer anywhere in the world – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. No matter what you’re selling, you are doing yourself a favor by having lots of information online about that product or service. This includes pictures, video, brochures, catalogues, menus, schedules, contact information, profiles, special events, discounts, coupons, etc.
If you don’t have a word-rich website written by a marketing professional, loaded with links and keywords, you’re missing the boat.
Write or call me for a free consultation. Getting your marketing in order is less expensive that you might think.
